This project develops a bracelet equipped with sensors that assess workers’ stress levels in electrical workstations at an incipient stage.

Cuerva is taking an active part in the development of this initiative coordinated by the onTech cluster, funded by the Ministry of Industry and executed by Cuerva, Cartagon, Plain Concepts and the University of Seville.

TheAudit-Holosen 4.0 project aims to position Spanish SMEs in the energy sector within Industry 4.0, incorporating disruptive technologies that accelerate the digitalisation and modernisation of their critical infrastructures using a smart auditing tool that combines augmented reality and virtual reality.

These critical infrastructures require periodic review, inspection and scheduled maintenance to ensure that they work as expected. They are often located in remote areas at considerable distances from major urban centres and frequently require specialised personnel to perform on-site assessments, tasks that can involve serious risks when working with high voltages.

Currently, the most advanced systems used during inspections and maintenance in the energy sector are limited to verifying the activity using geopositioned photos taken by the workers on-site. Audit-Holosen 4.0 presents a new concept of assistance for auditing critical infrastructures, recording and verifying everything the worker sees in real time at every step of the task in question.

This new smart-auditing concept incorporates augmented reality and virtual reality technology by means of HoloLens devices and a series of smart sensors capable of detecting the stress level of an operator during a critical task or of predicting if a transformer is about to fail by odour analysis coupled to a gas detector.

The device in the form of a bracelet also enables tele-assistance, access to an integrated visual information layer over the reality that the operator can see at all times. Among other features, it also acts on items not physically present by means of projected holograms, performs real-time infrastructure status monitoring and provides digital olfactory and stress control.

The project represents a shift in inspection-related and maintenance working methods in critical infrastructures at this time. It is intended to provide Spanish SMEs in the electrical sector with a smart auditing assistance tool that accelerates digitalisation and modernisation of their infrastructures to advance towards the new of Industry 4.0 paradigm.
