The full EPC project (developed, built, and commissioned by the Granada-based energy company) will generate approximately 9.2 GWh of clean electricity annually, avoiding 2,575 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year
With the commissioning of this asset, Cuerva brings its fourth photovoltaic plant online, expanding its solar portfolio to more than 1,328 MW across projects in Spain and Latin America
Granada. 26/03/2026. Cuerva, a leading 21st-century energy ecosystem with more than 85 years of experience, has reached a significant milestone in its renewable generation activity with the commissioning and delivery of a 4 MW solar photovoltaic plant in the municipality of Dúrcal, Granada.
The facility, now fully operational, strengthens local clean energy generation in the province and contributes to advancing a more efficient and decarbonised energy system.
Following the completion of all technical and administrative procedures required for grid access and connection, this commissioning represents a key milestone for the energisation and commercial operation of this type of infrastructure. The project forms part of the renewable growth pipeline in Andalusia.
Located to the northwest of the municipality, near the areas known as Romeral del Zahor and Romeral de la Moraja, the plant is expected to generate approximately 9,235 MWh of 100% renewable energy annually. From an environmental perspective, it will supply energy to nearly 1,000 households —around 9,000 residents— while avoiding the emission of approximately 2,575 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

An integrated infrastructure respectful of its environment
From its design and development phase, the installation has been planned under strict criteria to minimise environmental impact and ensure full compliance with applicable urban planning regulations and natural space protection standards. The project has prioritised efficient land use, in line with best practices in the photovoltaic sector.
The commissioning of this plant reinforces Cuerva’s positioning as a strategic partner across the entire energy value chain and consolidates its role as an active player in the energy transition, promoting a model based on distributed generation and proximity to consumption points.
“This plant is not just an energy infrastructure; it is an investment in the territory, in energy autonomy, and in the future. We are committed to responsible, integrated, and efficient renewable generation at a controlled scale, avoiding large-scale developments and ensuring full respect for the environment,” stated Cuerva’s Renewable Generation team.
Sustained growth in renewables with a long-term vision
With this new plant entering into operation, Cuerva continues to advance its development of renewable energy infrastructure in Spain. The company currently has more than 137 MW developed and over 1,630 MW in various stages of permitting and development.
In addition, the Granada-based energy company operates and maintains more than 37 MW of hydroelectric, solar photovoltaic, and wind assets, generating approximately 97 GWh of clean energy annually.
The commissioning of the Dúrcal plant represents another step forward in Cuerva’s roadmap towards a more resilient, innovative, and decarbonised energy system, reinforcing its commitment to renewable generation as a driver of economic and social development in the regions where it operates.
